Apple is gearing up for a significant AirPods launch this fall, with production ramping up to between 20 and 25 million units of two new AirPods models, marking potentially the largest launch in the product's history. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the upcoming AirPods release, anticipated for September or October, will introduce two fourth-generation variants, dubbed B768(E) and B768(M), for "entry" and "mid-tier" markets respectively.

The upcoming models, set to be manufactured by GoerTek and Luxshare Precision starting in May, are expected to sport a fresh design for enhanced comfort and USB-C charging cases. However, only the mid-tier B768(M) model will feature Active Noise Cancellation and a Find My speakers function within the case.

In addition to the new AirPods, Apple's 2024 plans for the product line include software updates with a focus on health features, such as a hearing aid mode for AirPods Pro within iOS 18, and a hearing test capability for AirPods. While an update to the AirPods Pro is in the works, it might be postponed until 2025.
